In that situation it's generally known that the advertising it not related to the page content but merely being served at the same time. This is not the same as putting an advertising banner on a web page. They also require prior permission for a copyrighted picture to be used in advertising. But if ads like the old ones return, I'd have to stop sharing photos that way, schools couldn't encourage students to use it, and so on. I use my own shots to share photos of project sites with other members of a design team. GE is a great tool to explore the world for kids and many other people rather new to the web. I hope GE realizes it would be shooting themselves in the foot if they went that route. I think we'd all hope that the ads for some of the types of subjects people complained about before will not return to our pages, and especially wouldn't be on the Google Earth links. But the problem with many of the ads then, which led many many of us to complain and that got me to download the Ad-blocker plug-in for Firefox, was the questionable / offensive nature of many of the ads. I even found it very helpful to have small text ads for appropriate services in the areas of the photos. I don't think it was a problem having ads there, just like we have ads in newspapers, etc., and this is a free service that has to be paid for somehow. ![]() ![]() When I first joined, there were ads on our user pages and on the photo pages themselves. Thanks for the information about ads possibly returning.
